Daily Benefits Of Organic Honey

There is a reason a jar of raw honey sits on our own kitchen table all year round. It is the simplest sweetener we know: made by bees, untouched by heat and full of the flavour of whatever was blooming when it was drawn. A spoonful in the morning genuinely makes the day start better.

Because our honey is only coarsely strained, it keeps its pollen and natural character. You can taste the difference between a spring blossom jar and a late-summer wildflower one — and once you do, the bland squeeze bottle from the supermarket tastes like a different food entirely.

Easy ways to use it every day

Stir a spoonful into warm (not boiling) tea, drizzle it over porridge with toasted nuts, or whisk it with mustard and vinegar for a salad dressing that takes thirty seconds. In baking, swap it for sugar cup for cup and lower the oven by a touch — honey browns faster and keeps cakes moist for days.

For scratchy throats, warm milk with honey and a squeeze of lemon is still the remedy our grandmother swore by. Keep the drink warm rather than hot and the honey keeps all of its gentle character.

Choosing a good jar

Look for honey that names its source — the yard, the season, the beekeeper. Raw honey may crystallise in the cupboard, and that is a good sign: it means the honey is real. Stand the jar in warm water, stir, and it turns liquid gold again.
